Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
"We dance in two worlds,/ inevitable as seasons in one,/ exotic curiosities in the other," says Onondaga poet Gail Tremblay, capturing the strength of these poets: their ability to meld a contemporary consciousness with ancient and enduring values and traditions. Continuing work begun in Carriers of the Dream Wheel (1975), poet/scholar Niatum assembles 36 North American Indian poets, Momaday, Welch, Ortiz, Young Bear, Harjo, and Erdrich among them. Each poet gets 3 to 10 poems and, in an appendix, a brief biography/bibliography. This doesn't seem quite enough; still, anthologies ought not to satisfy but whet the appetite, and this one does.
