Customer Reviews
don't waste your money on this
After seeing this printer on the Celebrity Apprentice, I though great finally a company with a printer that has reasonably priced ink cartridges. Then several months ago my beloved HP all in one took a tumble off a high counter and could not be resuscitated. After reviewing Amazon's 4 star feedback on the ESP9 I felt confident and purchased it. I really wonder how some reviewers can possibly give this a 5 star rating?, it is without question the worst printer that I have ever used and I am an I.T. professional and have used 100's of printers in my career. Here are the reasons why:
1]The inexpensive ink - costs you a lot more in the long run because the printer saturates the paper with so much ink that it goes all wavy and barely prints any pages at all before it is empty already, and yes I used Kodak paper with the recommended printer settings.
2]When you need to contact support.. and you will, bring a pillow for the long wait time, a Punjabi translator so they can translate from Indian to English for you, and swallow a couple Xanax prior to calling because your nerves will shoot through the roof from their utter incompetence and from reading scripted canned answers that in no way relate to your actual problem.
3]Scanner lid weighs about 10lbs and is hard to grasp.
4]Scanner quality is very poor, even at max setting. Drivers for scanner managed to blue screen Windows every 2/5 scans.. before this printer I forgot what a blue screen looked like.
5]Need to print an envelope?, better remove all of the loaded paper first to access the envelope feeder and then reload all the paper after printing your envelope(comic gem..the envelope diagram molded into the printer tray is backwards)
6]Sorry I can't hear you, I am going deaf from my ESP9
7]Document feeder is useless, just jams continuously.
8]Automatic duplexer is more like a manual duplexer after taking your printout and manually putting it back in the paper tray because the duplex option didn't work..again.
9]Print quality in color and black and white is sub par.
10]Costs as much as a real printer, this printer is amateur hour and Kodak should be ashamed for selling this.
Kodak ESP9 All-in One Printer
Wasn't sure what printer to get. Had a new Canon that was breaking the budget with ink purchases. Also need a fax and my old one gave up. Read a couple of reviews about the Kodak and decided to go with it mostly due to cheaper costs for ink. I am impressed. Easy set up on Mac and works like a dream. I didn't really notice any excessive noise which some other reviewers mentioned. Quality is just great and it even looks good on my desk. Can't believe how much they put into this all-in-one for the price. It does everything I need and won't put me in the poor house operating it. I am a happy customer. Thanks Kodak.
