From the manufacturer
Make Skype calls from your cell phone, the nearest phone - any phone! Actiontec once again delivers a product that enhances your Skype experience. Before, you had to sit in front of the computer and wear cumbersome headsets for Skype calling. Now VoSKY Call Center from Actiontec takes the great sound quality and low cost of Skype calls and makes these features accessible everywhere, on any phone.
Key Benefits:
Place Skype and SkypeOut calls from your home, mobile, office or any phone
Now you can grab any phone and make a Skype call! Call Center makes this possible by working like a mini phone operator. Once you've connected it to your computer and phone jack, you call Call Center from any phone and tell it which Skype contact you would like to call. Call Center then makes and transfers you to the free Skype call. For more convenience, you can also connect a phone directly to Call Center and just dial your contact's number from this phone. In either case, make Skype calls from any ordinary phone, wherever you are.
Receive incoming Skype calls to any phone
Why sit in front of your computer all day to receive Skype phone calls? Why spend additional time there just so you can hear the headset or computer speakers ringing when you receive a Skype call? Call Center makes these problems a thing of a past. You can connect Call Center to a phone and hear an actual phone ring, loudly and clearly, when you receive a Skype call. In addition, Call Center will forward missed Skype calls to any phone number of your choice. Now you can be anywhere and still receive your important Skype calls.
Get notified on any phone when your Skype contact becomes online
When you make Skype calls on the go, you're inevitably going to call someone who isn't online and available at that time. Call Center has an easy solution. If this scenario happens, you can choose to have Call Center call your cell phone, or any ordinary phone number of your choice, as soon as your Skype contact is online. Then you can instantly call your Skype contact again with the press of a button.
Customer Reviews
Does what it says... as long as you don't mind being restricted..
I ordered the Vosky Call Center Skype Gateway as I was looking to leverage my current home phone system and use it on the skype network. I had reviewed other solutions but they all seemed to "do it all", yet "do nothing well".
I received my order from Amazon.ca exactly 1 week after ordering.
My System:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Skype 4.1x
Intel Q6600
3GB RAM

Setting up the Vosky was very simple. Instructions were clear. One item caught my attention however. Skype is currently operating on Major Version 4.x. The instructions were very clear, you must use the version that shipped with the CD. That is version 3.2. Several versions behind the current release. This raises concerns as some features, and of course security patches do not apply to older versions.
I had to un-install my version of skype, and install the old version on the CD. Doing anything else caused multiple errors.
After satisfying its exacting configuration, the device worked as described. And then it didnt. After some searching around the system, I realized there were multiple sound devices added. I also noticed it changed my default audio device to the VOSKY Call Center. That resulted in my media player playing into the device. (For those more technical, the Vosky device is simply an audio input/output device that uses your phone RJ11 connector as its interface.. smart... with limitations) After setting my default audio back to the PC sound Card, I checked my Skype Configuration. I had to set it manually on skype to the Vosky Call Center.
After doing the above, it worked as designed.. again. :)
A point to note, pressing the ##,0,xxx-xxxx too quickly will confuse the device... press #...#... then wait for it to greet you. A minor nuisiance...
A point of concern as well.. a visit to Vosky's site doesn't reveal ANY information regarding the device. It likely could be end of life and those who expect good support, might want to reconsider the product. I didn't contact their support line, so I am unsure how effective they are.
Anyhow.. what would give it 5 stars?
- A presence on their website for the device (Drivers / Manuals / etc)
- Support for newer version of Skype
- Smarter installation that doesn't break other devices/services
- Installation of the Call center manager as a service (That way you don't have to be logged in
- Non requirement for Administrative privledges (causes UAC to request permission after every reboot to launch the VOSKY process)
- More advanced documentation for tweaks / configurations
I hope this provides some guidance for others that are interested in ordering the device.
